A COMPANY FORGING AHEAD

Ansell Handtools (Sheffield) Ltd, is a small independent family business which manufactures all types of Cold Chisels, Brick Bolsters, Wrecking Bars and Punches etc, along with a specialist Woodworking Tools and Agricultural Implements.

It was formed in 1980 by myself John Ansell and my wife Patricia, after I had gained experience in various forges in Sheffield and Germany. In 1985, on leaving school, my youngest brother Robert joined the company. Our family connection with forging goes back to our Grandfather, Thomas Merrill, who was one of Sheffield's 'Little Mesters' he worked independently producing Hand Forged specialist cutlery items.

On moving to new premises in 1990, the company became limited.

The opportunity was taken to re-organise production procedures to optimise the efficiency needed to produce tools of consistently high quality and to the relevant/ applicable standards.
